Nusa Lembongan: The Perfect Waters

If you’re lucky enough to visit Nusa Lembongan in Indonesia, expect no other than crystal blue waters decorated with emerald seaweed and vibrant coral in every colour imaginable. This beautiful Balinese island has some of the clearest waters you’ll ever come across, and although the beaches are lined with small rowing boats and coral, this only adds to its splendour and beauty, creating a truly picturesque landscape.

Lembongan has carefully catered towards tourists with cute bungalow resorts that line the beach and a small yet satisfying collection of beach lounges and chic bars. Without a high-rise hotel in sight, the Indonesian paradise still retains its simplicity yet offers a comfortable and calming island vibe.

Lembongan is also surfer and diver paradise, with a number of surf and dive centres that will take you out to some of the best, most beautiful spots around the island. The reef provides the best snorkelling and surfing opportunities for the island too, and only need to head across to the neighbouring island of Nusa Penida to spot bamboo sharks, manta rays, mola mola and exotic fish, which is only a short boat ride away. If you’re looking for a more relaxing activity, paddle boarding is a great way to spend lazy afternoon in the sun.

As the sun disappears into the horizon, children play together in the sea whilst the locals enjoy a beer and sing-along amongst friends. The main beach, Jungut Batu, which in Indonesian means Sunset Beach, lives up to its name and offers glorious sunset views.

This island is all about relaxation and appreciating the surroundings all around. Kick back, relax after a day of diving or paddle boarding, catch some sunset rays on a beach bed and enjoy a chilled Bintang whilst you watch the sun gradually sink into the seascape and light up the horizon.
